Chamarajpet is one of the oldest cities in Bangalore, which turned a hundred and twenty five in January, 2017, and is quite well known for its "original Bangalority".

This locality was designed with a well planned layout, along the lines of a chessboard, with five main roads and nine cross roads. Originally named Chamarajendra Pete, which was derived from the then Maharaja Chamarajendra Wadiyar, the name of this place was shortened later.
The oldest and most iconic landmarks are still standing high in this area, which include Prakash Cafe and Surya Book Depot, thriving with people everyday. The famous tourist spot, Tipu Sultan Summer Palace is full of people most of the day.
With temples on every street, including Sri Mahadeshwara Deva Temple and Sri Mariamma Devi Temple, this place is quite religious. It has a number of mosques and churches, too.
The headquarters of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is also located here. With several hotels, schools, banks, restaurants, and medical facilities, Chamarajpet is sufficient on its own. It is also home to the oldest Sanskrit College in the city, namely, Chamarajendra Sanksrit College. The efficient transportation network in and around this locality makes commutation easy.
