A neighbourhood in North Mumbai, Malad has its own railway station on the Mumbai Suburban Railway’s Western Line. It lies just between Kandivali and Goregaon station. In fact the railway line divides Malad West and Malad East.
The locality was home to many mangroves which have since been removed to make way for buildings. Malad is mainly inhabited by middle-class population belonging to various communities.
