Madangir Overview
Madangir is basically a village which is located in South Delhi and is adjacent to rural outskirts such as Khanpur, Khidki and Chirag. Madangir village is also very close to Mehrauli village. It is believed that the founder of the village was a man named Madan who used to collect ‘malgujaris’ for the safe passage of merchandise to Old Delhi. The terrain around the village is rocky and in early days was dominated by big and short bushes. To protect against any untoward happening the locals paid this fee to Madan.
An old temple of Dada Harsukh Das still stands tall in the developed Madangir now. Though the place is somewhat still in its developing stage, some areas have acquired good modern facilities like educational institutions, markets, temples, metro station, restaurants and hospitals.
